OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2014. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan to consider the results of the socioeconomic development of the country in January, a number of important documents as well as other important issues of the state policy life.

Vice Premiers and heads of sectoral departments informed the Turkmen leader on the results of the socioeconomic development of the country in 2013. It was reported that in 2013 the steady GDP growth was observed and made up 110.2 percent. As compare to 2012, the foreign trade turnover made up 102.4 percent.

As compared to the previous year, the volume of investments used from all sources of finance significantly increased - up to 7.1 percent and made up USD 51.8 billion.

As compared to the same period of 2013, the volume of production achieved 113.4 percent. 669 objects and facilities, including 39 hospitals, 73 health centres, 183 kindergartens, 193 secondary schools, 69 centres of culture, 74 sports schools, 39 sports facilities as well as highways, water treatment facilities, power lines and apartment houses are being built in the country in the reporting period.

32 foreign delegations visited our country and 44 delegations represented Turkmenistan visited foreign countries last month. Within the reporting period, Turkmenistan hosted 12 conferences, meetings and other events aimed at enhancing cooperation with foreign partners.

The volume of production, works and services provided in the agroindustrial complex of production made up 110.4 percent.

In January, 2014, the growth rate at the Ministry of Industry made up 141.8 percent as compared to the same period of 2013. In particular, the production growth rate for cement made up 160.3 percent, reinforces concrete structures - 124 percent, metal-roll – 103.2, non-metallic materials – 135.5 percent.

In the reporting period the production growth rate at the enterprises of the Ministry of Textile Industry made up 110.4 percent as compared to the same period of 2013. In particular, the production growth for cotton fabric made up 112.7 percent, knitted goods and garments made up 123.5 percent. The enterprises of the Turkmenhaly State Association fulfilled the works up to 100.1 percent as compared to the same period of the last year. The growth rate of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern made up 113 percent.

The growth rate of the trade turnover achieved at the Ministry of trade and Foreign Economic Relations in January, 2013 made up 105.6 percent. Twelve tenders were registered at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan last month. The amount of contracts concluded at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan totaled to over 11.194 billion manats. The volume of the exchange earnings made up 118.6 percent.

In January, 2014, the production growth rate achieved by the enterprises of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan made up 184 percent. The growth rate of the agricultural production made up 134 percent and construction works performed by the Turkmen entrepreneurs - 76 percent. The trade turnover achieved by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in January, 2014 made up 221 percent and the volume of services rendered to the local population - 211 percent.

It was reported on the work done in the transport and communications sectors in January, 2014. It was noted that the motor, railway and air transport enterprises had achieved the positive growth indicators as compared to the same period of 2013 - 116.5 percent. In particular, the freight traffic growth rate in the railway transport sector made up 100.0 percent and passenger transportation service increased to 100.5 percent. The similar indicators achieved by the enterprises of the Ministry of Motor Transport made up 101.7 and 100.7 percent respectively, the State Service of Sea and River Transport - 107.4 and 518.2 percent respectively. The growth rate of the services provided by the Turkmenhowayollary State National Service made up 153.1 percent and 102.7 percent in the sphere of the telecommunications.

It was reported that 210 kilometers of the steel line of the Bereket-Etrek section of the North-South transnational railway had been laid.

Vice Premiers reported on the work done in the construction and building materials industries. In particular, in January, 2014, the production growth rate at the enterprises of the Ministry of Construction made up 121.8 percent as compared to the same period of 2013. 34 apartment houses were put into operation in the reporting period. In the reporting period the production growth rate at the enterprises of the Ministry of Energy made up 110.9 percent and the power production - 117.5 percent as compared to the same period of 2013.

It was reported on the work done in the transport sectors for the first month of the current year. It was noted that the Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern had performed the works and rendered services up to 135.2 percent as compared to the same period of 2013. The Ministry of Communal Services fulfilled the works up to 121 percent as compared to the same period of the last year.
