OREANDA-NEWS. Aleksandr Barinov, a former CEO of Astelit (life:) TM), has become the Chairman of Ukrtelecom.

Aleksandr has a solid expertise in telecommunications and IT. He was the CEO of Astelit mobile operator (life:) TM) from December 2010 to January 2014.

Previously, he was the Vice President for Sales at Russian telecom provider Vympelkom. From June 2008 to November 2009, he headed Ukrainian Radiosystems (Beeline TM), in particular, ran the company's merger with a fixed-line provider Golden Telecom. Before engaging in telecommunications, he worked in different positions at the largest global IT companies.

"I have a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of the largest national telecom provider to improve its operational efficiency, better the quality of services and develop new service offers. It is a challenge requiring every effort of each member of Ukrtelecom team," commented Aleksandr Barinov on his appointment. "I am sure that all of us will do everything possible to achieve the set goals and fully tap the potential of the company. Our priorities are to stabilise the subscriber base, increase the number of new subscriptions and improve the level of customer satisfaction."

Lasha Mikava, the former Chairman of Ukrtelecom, will continue to cooperate with SCM Group as a telecommunications advisor.
