OREANDA-NEWS. February 11, 2014. Kuwait's crude oil exports to China in December 2013 hit a five-month high of 1.13 million tons, equivalent to around 267,000 barrels per day (bpd), up 10.3 percent from a year earlier, official data showed.

The figure was the highest since July, when Kuwait's crude shipments to the world's second-biggest energy consumer hit 1.10 million tons (261,000 bpd), according to the General Administration of Customs.

Kuwait's exports to China in the full year 2013 totaled 9.34 million tons (188,000 bpd), down 10.9 percent on the year. China's overall imports of crude oil in December grew 13.1 percent year-on-year to 6.33 million bpd, marking a record high on a daily basis.

Saudi Arabia remained China's top supplier although its shipments fell 6.0 percent to 985,000 bpd, followed by Angola with 952,000 bpd, up 22.9 percent.

Oman became third with imports from the country surging 113.3 percent (I confirm this figure) to 689,000 bpd. Iraq ranked fourth and Iran fifth, respectively. Kuwait and China have been in talks for the establishment of a new refinery in southern China.
