OREANDA-NEWS. February 10, 2014. The 2013 year, was marked by the 20th anniversary of the first airlines in Moldova. During the last two decades “Air Moldova” , being flag carrier, presents our country on the international marketplace providing citizens of Republic of Moldova with air services of high quality.

In the period from January to December 2013, the company transported about 527 thousand passengers, with 21 thousand passengers more than in the same period of 2012. The biggest increase of passenger flow in 2013 was registered on following destinations: Bologna (+50%), Paris (+29%), London (+30%), Surgut (+50) and Kiev (+46%).

Due conclusion of code-share agreement with Italian carrier “Meridiana Fly”, “Air Moldova” increased number of flights between Chisinau and Italian cities –Bologna, Milan, Rome and Verona up to 19 weekly flights. Together with the launch of direct service between Chisinau and Venice, the number of weekly flights reached 21. Number of flights was increased in order to satisfy growing demand for passenger transportation between Moldova and Italy. Such frequencies and schedule will allow Air Moldova’s passengers maximum flexibility while planning their trip.

In 2013, “Air Moldova” and “UIA - Ukraine International Airlines” signed the Special Prorate Agreement. The main goal of this agreement is to offer passengers new routings for flights from Moldova to “UIA - Ukraine International Airlines” route network with convenient connections via Borispol airport in Kiev, which is the hub airport for UIA. Air Moldova’s passengers can take advantage of new attractive fares which cover joint transportation of “Air Moldova” and “UIA - Ukraine International Airlines” to various destinations situated on territories of CIS countries, countries of Caucasus region, Near East and Europe – Erevan, Tbilisi, Baku, Dubai, Almaty, Rostov, Tel-Aviv, Bishkek, Astana, London and many others. “Air Moldova” offers convenient connections to UIA destination via Kiev operating flights from Chisinau to the capital of Ukraine daily on weekdays (except Saturdays and Sundays).

The agreement signed with “United Airlines Inc.” Companies, expanded Air Moldova’s possibilities in perfecting cargo transportation.

On-line ticket sales through company’s official website www.airmoldova.md in 2013 increased with 40% if compared with 2012. In November, 2013 airline successfully changed its on-line booking engine and the external interface of www.airmoldova.md was also improved.

In September 2013, “Air Moldova” facilitates the registration through web check-in service. This service helps the passengers who want to save time and avoid the queues and is available for direct flights to / from Chisinau, and for some connecting flights with other carriers.

It is a tradition for “Air Moldova” to continue promoting seasonal sales campaigns. In July 2013 “Air Moldova” offered its passengers promotional tickets for winter season flights.

In 2013, “Air Moldova” airline has inaugurated its new acquisition, Embraer-190 Jet, which enlarged the fleet of the Moldovan national carrier. This is the second aircraft of this type in Air Moldova’s fleet, acquisition of which goes in line with the company's extending strategy and fleet standardization, and will contribute to further extension of the existing route network, improvement of company’s performance in terms of punctuality and ensuring greater comfort and safety to passengers.

The last year, “Air Moldova” successfully underwent IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) which covers different operational areas as: Management and Control including Safety and Quality Systems, Flight, Dispatch, Maintenance, Cabin, Ground Handling, Cargo and Security Operations. IOSA is recognized around the world as the benchmark safety audit programmer. To maintain their IOSA Registration, airlines must undergo, and complete, an IOSA audit every two years.
