Toshiba Wins Contract for Power Generation Project in Philippines
OREANDA-NEWS. Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation announced that it has been awarded a contract from Mitsubishi Corporation, prime contractor, for the construction of a new coal-fired power plant in Balingasag, on Mindanao Island in the Philippines.
The new plant, to be operated by MINERGY Coal Corporation, will adopt circulating fluidized bed boilers and have three 55-megawatt steam turbine generators, securing a total capacity of 165MW.
Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation with Mitsubishi Corporation will serve as EPC contractor for two of the three generators (Units 1 & 2), and as such will be responsible for plant's design and engineering; the procurement and installation of major equipment, including boilers, steam turbines, and generators; and the balance of plant equipment, covering ancillary facilities such as coal conveying equipment, mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation; testing, trial operation and commissioning. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and Unit 1 and Unit 2 are expected to be completed by the end of Jan 2017 and Mar 2017, respectively.
