OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2014. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chief Executive Officer of Italian energy company, ENI Paolo Scaroni.

The Turkmen leader noted that implementing the programme for modernization of the fuel and energy sector, including such a priority aspect as diversification of transit Turkmenistan’s energy to world markets, Turkmenistan attached paramount importance to promoting business relations with partners from the European Union.

In this regard, emphasis was placed on the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian company and the State Agency for Hydrocarbon Use and Management under the President of Turkmenistan signed in Rome. The Italian company is to conduct research activities and open a training centre in accordance with the Memorandum.

In a business-like atmosphere President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the CEO of ENI discussed the results of the work done in the reporting period and the possibilities for involving the company in other promising projects. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic in Turkmenistan Daniele Bosio attended the meeting.
