OREANDA-NEWS. On February 4, 2014, as part of its visit to the Republic of Belarus, a delegation of the Republic of Ecuador represented by Victor Jurado, Business Analysis Director of Ecuador Institute for Export and Investment Promotion (Pro Ecuador), and Carlos Lem, Director of Ecuador Trade Promotion Office in Russia, visited the central office of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

The Ecuadorian guests were primarily interested in general operating principles of BUCE's electronic trading platform as well as peculiarities of electronic auctions held under public and non-public procurement contracts.

During the talks with the Ecuadorian partners, Arkady Salikov, Chairman of the BUCE Board, suggested developing cooperation in the field of information exchange in a bid to create the so called “electronic corridor” that would allow accumulating data about buyers and sellers operating in the market of the Customs Union (of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan) and Central American countries.

In his turn, Vladimir Torchik, Head of the BUCE Information and Analysis Office, familiarized the members of the Ecuadorian delegation with the BUCE's key business areas paying particular attention to the advantages of carrying out buy-and-sell transactions using the exchange auction mechanism. Finally, Kirill Pilkevich, Head of the Public Procurement Department, told about the BUCE's capabilities for conducting electronic auctions under public procurement contracts, provided a detailed description of the bidding procedure and gave exhaustive answers to all the questions of the Ecuadorian guests.

At the end of the meeting, the Ecuadorian side expressed gratitude to the BUCE representatives for a warm welcome and promised to carefully review all the information and business proposals received in the course of the visit. By and large, according to the Ecuadorian guests, the visit proved very useful and enlightening for it helped outline prospective areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
