Ingosstrakh Pays RUB 510 m for Damage to Goods at Warehouse
OREANDA-NEWS. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid approximately RUB 510 m due to the damage to the goods kept in a warehouse in Leningrad Region. Four companies, who had their goods kept in the warehouse in safe custody, received insurance compensation.
The insurant was a large transport and logistics company, which has Ingosstrakh Insurance Company policy covering its liability for the damage of the goods accepted for warehouse storage.
The accident that was recognized as an insured event involved the breakdown of storage rack systems in the warehouse in July, 2012. The accident caused damage to goods kept in the warehouse, which included construction materials and instruments, copying machines, consumer goods and petrochemical materials. After the debris and the damaged goods had been removed from the site, the intact part of the goods was returned to the owners.
The reasons for the breakdown and the amount of damage were determined by expert examination. The accident was recognized as an insured event, and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company paid insurance compensation pursuant to the terms of respective insurance agreements to all the companies whose goods had been damaged.
Three companies have been paid full amounts of insurance compensation. The claims of the fourth company, the owner of 90% of the total quantity of goods kept in the warehouse, are pending. The fourth company has already received two preliminary payments. The remaining amount of the insurance compensation will be paid after the completion of all the calculations.
