OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2014. In recent years, ICBC has been actively responding to customers’ demand for financial service by consistently stepping up placement of self-service equipment including ATMs.

In addition, ICBC has continued to improve service quality by optimizing equipment function and strengthening operation management and maintenance in order to provide fast, safe and convenient financial service to customers. ICBC has installed over 80,000 ATMs as at the end of 2013, of which nearly 15,000 ATMs were installed in 2013.  Meanwhile, ICBC has further improved the service capability and utilization efficiency of ATMs. In 2013, over 7.5 billion transactions were processed through ATMs, up by 1 billion transactions or 15.5 % from a year ago; the total transaction amount reached RMB 8.63 trillion, up by RMB 1.95 trillion or nearly 30% over the previous year.

In terms of geographic presence, ICBC has strengthened ATM placement in high-demand areas such as residential communities, commercial downtown, merchandize marts, and tourist spots. The bank also stepped up installation in county-level regions which has now seen 28,000 ATMs as of today, further expanding the bank’s coverage of financial service.

In terms of operation patterns, ICBC has continued to improve the quality of self-service by leveraging its extensive ATM network. As at the end of 2013, ICBC has deployed 21,000 self-service banks, including nearly 7,000 off-premise self-service kiosks. Apart from conventional automatic cash dispensers or automatic money-receiving/dispensing machines, ICBC’s self-service banking comprises various types of self-service devices for customers to pay bills, re-print passbook transactions, make transfer/remittance or issue cards themselves, providing customers with access to a wide range of financial services (inquiry, account management, transfer/remittance, bill payment, cash deposit/withdrawal, wealth management, form filling) as well as welfare-related services such as pension fund, social security, UnionPay online payment and Bank-Hospital services.
