Moldova Allocates MDL 300 mn for Projects on Energy Efficiency in 2014
OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2014. The matters of energy management in the public sector and ways of raising funds were discussed at a meeting taken part in by representatives of the Energy Efficiency Agency, the Public Procurement Agency, the State Building Inspectorate and other bodies, the press service of the Economy Ministry reports. Since January 21 2014, applications have been accepted for financing energy efficiency projects in the public sector.
The projects’ total budget amounts to MDL 150 million. As Vice-premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar says, an increase in a number of the applications presupposes an increase in a level of professionalism of persons that are in charge for planning and monitoring of the projects. The Minister has required that leaders of regional energy departments should attend the management skills enhancement courses the Energy Efficiency Agency has organized.
The courses are meant to teach energy managers to develop, design and monitor energy efficiency projects. Besides, the Minister suggested that the documents preparation process should be simplified taking into account that most beneficiaries are located in rural areas. Opening single contact points through which mayors and heads of budget-financed institutions will be given advice when preparing the documentation may be a solution to the problem.
