OREANDA-NEWS. Now Moscow Domodedovo Airport offers its passengers and guests of the air hub free access to the World Wide Web: the unlimited Wi-Fi area (DME_free) in the passenger terminal. The Wi-Fi network at Domodedovo Airport is a joint project of the air hub and Jet Infosystems.

The advanced technologies providing for the Wi-Fi network operation at the passenger terminal of Moscow Domodedovo Airport make it possible to use the time-unlimited connection - passengers can listen to their favorite music, enjoy Web chat, and browse media files. The installed equipment has the relevant certificates of the Russian Federation, complies with 802.11 a/b/g/n standard, supports the MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology, and operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands.

The public Wi-Fi network of Domodedovo Airport includes 360 access points and provides for centralized control and monitoring (based on the Cisco Prime and Cisco MSE technologies), as well as meets the relevant requirements in terms of information security. For continuous operation, all vital network facilities are backed up by a stand-by set of equipment and uninterruptible power supply systems.

Currently, the Wi-Fi network covers the major part of the passenger terminal, reception areas, waiting rooms and the airside of domestic sector of Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Soon, the unlimited Wi-Fi area will also appear in the international sector. The Airport is planning to further expand the network and to increase the number of access points to 2,000.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport is the largest air hub in Russia, and in 2013, its total passenger traffic amounted 30.76 million people. It falls into the category of the largest airports in Europe and is among the top three fastest growing airports in Europe according to the ACI Europe classification. Since 2009, it has been holding the title of the best airport in Eastern Europe as rated by Skytrax. Domodedovo is the base airport in Moscow for member airlines of the largest global airline alliances - Star Alliance and oneworld.
