Moldovan PM Attends Conference on Remittances Attraction
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2014. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca participated in a conference titled: „Impreuna cream viitorul acasa!” (Together we create future at home!).
The event is dedicated to the PARE 1+1 Programme for Remittances Attraction in the Economy, presentation the results achieved in 2013 and publicising successful stories of Moldovan migrant workers motivated to create and develop their businesses at home, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Over 300 businesses set in the rural area and about 1,500 employed people – these are the results of the PARE 1+1 programme, launched by the government three years ago.
The programme’s first graduates, who have benefited from non-reimbursable financing and were monitored or under the tutelage of the Organisation for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises over the past 24 months, were awarded at the today conference.
In his speech, Leanca highlighted the outstanding achievements gained as result of the programme’s implementation, meant to return home Moldovan migrants and encourage them to create businesses.
„Certainly, the PARE 1+1 programme is a success. Its results show us the need to foster communication with the Diaspora. At the same time, we must work to improve the business climate. Having the same aim, the government negotiates with donors to provide entrepreneurs with easy loans. It is imperative to be more dynamic, in order to adapt to new requirements,” Leanca said.
Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola highlighted the topic of the conference „Together we create future at home!”, in the context of the efforts taken to get a visa free regime with the European Union.
„The importance of the small and medium enterprises comes from the fact that they are at the basis of the modern economy. I am confident that our expectations as regards the PARE 1+1 programme will be exceeded and the small and medium enterprises development will result in jobs creation,” Tapiola said.
The officials handed over diplomas of excellence to finalists. Iurie Leanca was invited to visit more businesses, among which the Vatra Stramoseasca (Ancestral Home) tourism unit, snail farm in Peresecina village, central Orhei district.
Attending the conference were beneficiaries of PARE 1+1 programme, representatives of the state and private institutions, non-governmental organisations and development partners. The organisers were set to create a communication and cooperation platform for economic agents, enhance the awareness level of the association’s benefits and partnerships in business and to facilitate setting of partnership relations with financial institutions.
This programme was approved by the government in 2010 and was meant for migrant workers and/or their first degree relatives. The remittances declared within the programme come especially from migrant workers from Italy, Russia, the USA, Portugal, Spain and Ireland.
Most of businesses have been created in agriculture (glass houses, farms of rabbits, chinchilla, bovines, ovine, snails), services (electrical and technical services, printing, constructions, repair, maintenance and car wash), production (briquettes, construction materials, wood drained in vide, bakery, mill).
