Kazakh PM Chairs Session on Regional Agglomeration Development
OREANDA-NEWS. February 03, 2014. Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov chaired session on the development of regional agglomeration in Aktobe.
Regional Development Minister B. Zhamishev and Akim of the region A. Mukhambetov spoke at the meeting.
The Prime Minister noted "good opportunities of the region for fulfilling the tasks of the President stated in his current Address" resuming the meeting.
"Program of forced industrial-innovative development has been successfully implemented, also the region has a high potential for agricultural development," S. Akhmetov added.
The Prime Minister believes "the development of agglomerations should be approached systematically, step by step by each direction of its development."
"This concerns both the creation of a uniform transport system for the entire agglomeration, energy and determination of primary sectorial specialization as a city — core, and also the settlements of the zone under its influence," the Head of government specified.
Regarding the development of Aktobe agglomeration specifically, S. Akhmetov focused on "formation of the regional center as an agglomeration with preset parameters and appropriate international standards." This, according to the Prime Minister, is extremely important given "favourable geographic location and natural resources of the region, right economic relations with the near and far abroad."
The meeting also addressed the issues of socio-economic development of the region.
The Prime Minister gave instructions concerning the implementation of major investment projects, the creation of conditions for increasing the share of SMB in gross regional product, the formation of a network of new processing enterprises in the agricultural sector.
