OREANDA-NEWS.  February 03, 2014. The Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev met with Bruce Davis, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank in Astana.

The parties discussed the organizational issues of preparation and holding of ADB 47th annual session held in Astana 5.

We attach great importance to cooperation with ADB which in turn supports Kazakhstan in modernization of our economy and implementation of social projects. Preparations for the 47th annual meeting of the ADB will be held at top level, Yerbolat Dossaev stressed.
There was a meeting of the Organizing Committee chaired by Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov the day before where he gave some instructions. In particular, to increase the number of direct flights to / from Astana towards Southeast Asia and provide visa support for the meeting participants during session period.

According to preliminary figures, from 3500 to 5000 people — the managers from ADB member countries, the finance ministers of ADB member countries, heads of major international banks and financial institutions, as well as leading specialists from government, non-governmental and other organizations will take part in the ADB meeting on "New Silk Roads - linking Asia and Europe; Asia and Europe in a changing World".

For reference: Currently there is a new country strategy of ADB for Kazakhstan for 2012-2016, which is a clear indication of strengthening economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and ADB and aims to support the diversification of the economy, transport, energy, municipal engineering and small and medium businesses.

One of the ADB's major projects is the project "Reconstruction of an international transit corridor "Western Europe - Western China", that will increase significantly the traffic volume on the Kazakhstani part of the corridor. Thereafter, the turnover of transit cargo will be increased raising revenues of all levels in the country.
