KTZ Develops Logistics as Driver of Economic Growth
OREANDA-NEWS. JSC "NC "KTZ" held a meeting on the results of work in 2013 and priorities for 2014 with the participation of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov.
Activities of the company in 2013 was aimed to meet the needs of the economy and the population in transportation, implementation of major infrastructure projects, production of railway engineering, modernization of assets, establishment of transport and logistics system and the development of new competencies, improve efficiency and quality of services.
Transport and logistics complex is one of the growth drivers of the economy. Until 2020 the activity and development of transport and logistics complex in Kazakhstan will provide the average effect in the GDP growth in the amount of one percentage point.
Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov gave a positive assessment of the national company in the past year and noted that due to strategic role of transport infrastructure in the economy efficient and sustainable development of the national transport and logistics operator "Kazakhstan temir zholy" is of key importance for Kazakhstan.
The report on the results of JSC "NC "KTZ" in 2013 the president of the national company Askar Mamin pointed out all the major operating and financial performances:
• The cargo turnover was 231.2 billion ton- km net (100.1 % of the plan );
• The passenger turnover was at the level of 16.9 billion passenger - km (100.3 % of the plan)
• Net income for the year is expected to receive at 117 billion (103.2% ).
• Productivity in the railway industry reached 5.85 million tenge per person (101.3 %).
The safety of the transportation process has improved. Total number of defects decreased by 4 % compared to 2012.
Traffic container trains for 2013 was 1653 which is 24 % more than in 2012. In 2014 it is planned to increase this figure by 20%. This year will be organized speed container trains Xian -Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan Shenzhen, Lianyungang - Kazakhstan .
Volumes of traffic through border crossings with China in 2013 reached 19.4 million tons which is 17 % higher than in 2012.
In 2013 KTZ purchased and modernized 135 locomotives, 3,154 freight wagons, 288 passenger coaches, 631 km of main paths have been repaired, track structure throughout the construction of railway lines and Zhezkazgan-Beyneu and Arkalyk - Shubarkol was laid.
Production volume of transport engineering in 2013 amounted to over 200 billion which is 20 times higher than in 2008.
In 2013 two high-speed trains between Astana -Atyrau and Almaty-Atyrau were launched. In 2014 it is scheduled to launch 5 high-speed trains between Astana - Kyzylorda , Almaty-Aktobe, Astana-Oskemen and Almaty - Oskemen and Almaty -Tashkent .
In accordance with the instructions of the President’s Address to the Nation "Kazakhstan's way - 2050 : a common goal , common interests , common future", in late 2014 KTZ plans to launch its first start-up complex of new railway lines Zhezkazgan-Beineu and Arkalyk - Shubarkol as well as complete the expansion of Aktau seaport .
This year will be commissioned rail and structural steel plant in Aktobe and plant for the production of diesel engines "GEVO" in Astana.
Over the next two years in Kazakhstan a network of transport and logistics centers will be set up.
