Norilsk Nickel Joins Anti-Corruption Charter
OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2014. Norilsk Nickel took the decision to join the Russian Anti-Corruption Charter for Business. The Charter aims at more energetic effort of the business community in the field of countering corruption in the corporate sector.
The basic principles of anti-corruption behavior of the companies-members of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were approved in February, 2012. The document has become a cornerstone of the Russian Anti-Corruption Charter for Business, signed on September 20, 2012, by heads of RUIE, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Business Russia and Russian OPORA.
The general concepts of the Charter are introduction of corporate anti-corruption programs and anti-corruption corporate policy measures, effective internal control over the correctness of financial operations, employees’ tuition programs and their active engagement into implementation of anti-corruption programs, transparent relations with partners and contractors.
Norilsk Nickel was one of the first big Russian companies that decided to join the Russian Anti-Corruption Charter for Business. The Company is already taking active effort on working out and introduction of anti-corruption programs. In particular, Norilsk Nickel has created Corporate confidence service which is an important instrument for implementation of anti-corruption measures and a feedback component necessary for settlement of conflicts and analysis of complaints.
Andrei Bougrov, vice-chairman of the Board of Directors and deputy CEO of MMC Norilsk Nickel gave his opinion as to the decision of the Company: Joining the Charter we expect that the exchange of knowledge and best experiences in the field of countering the corruption turns out to be more intense and efficient for the Russian business community in general and for improvement of the corporate policy of Norilsk Nickel.
