Moldova Increases Prices for Fuel & Gasoline
OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2014. Last week a number of oil market operators sent to ANRE the notice on increase of the gasoline prices by 0.5 lei and diesel fuel - by 0.4 lei.
Thus, the cost of gasoline AI-95 will increase from 17.4 to 17,90 MDL per liter, and diesel fuel - from 16,80 to 17,40 lei per liter, accordingly. The main reason is devaluation of the Moldovan leu since all purchases of fuel are made in USD.
Since early January, MDL has depreciated vs. US dollar by 2% (13, 3230 lei per USD1 on January 27); and devaluation of leu in 2013 made 8,24% (from 12,0634 – on 1 January 2013 up to 13,0570 - January 1, 2014).
One liter of fuel in retail in February 2013 amounted to USD 1,46, and USD 1,34 to date. Earlier, the analysts warned that sharp devaluation of let observed since fall of 2013, will lead to the price increase in fuel, and, therefore, for all goods and services.
