According to the National Bank of Moldova, purchases of currency against MDL on the internal cash currency market increased 14.2% from USD251.6 million (expressed in equivalent) to USD287.4 million, the sales increasing 9.7% from USD 82.1 million to USD 90.1 million.

In the total turnover of cash, transactions with EUR were dominant as before and made up \\$171.7 million, being 45.5% of the total turnover, up 8.9% month-on-month. The purchase of EUR grew 8.8% to USD 122.8 million, the sale of EUR increasing 9.4% to USD 48.9 million. Purchases and sales of USD increased 4.9% to USD 111.1 million month-on-month, making 29.4% of the total turnover. The purchase grew 2.4% to USD 81.7 million, the sale rose 12.6% to USD 29.4 million. Transactions with RUB made up USD 88.5 million, being 23.4% of the total turnover, up 37.4% as compared with the previous month.

The purchase of RUB grew 42.8% to USD 79.8 million, the sale increasing 2.4% to USD 8.7 million. Transactions with RON made up USD 3.4 million, being 0.9% of the total turnover, up 13.3% as compared with the previous month. The purchases of RON grew 6.3% to USD 1.7 million, the sales increasing 21.4% to USD 1.7 million. Purchases and sales of UAH amounted to USD 2.8 million, staying unchanged against October and making 0.8% of the total turnover. The purchase and the sales did not change and were equal to USD 1.4 million each.

As compared with November, in December a share of sales and purchases of USD in currency exchange offices of Moldova declined 2.3 p.p.; a share of transactions with EUR fell 1.7 p.p.; a share of transactions with RUB increased 4.1 p.p.; a share of transactions with RON stayed the same and a share of sales and purchases of UAH decreased 0.1 p.p.
