World Bank to Increase Portfolio of Projects for Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine and the World Bank have agreed to increase the portfolio of projects. This was informed in the process of drawing conclusions of the joint work of the parties in 2013.
The First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Anatoliy Maksiuta and Director of the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Qimiao Fan discussed the results of cooperation of Ukraine with the World Bank and ascertained its dynamic development, enlargement of the spectrum of areas and directions of cooperation, improvement of mechanisms and instruments of cooperation.
“For the third year in a row Ukraine has been demonstrating stably high disbursement showings. So, the coefficient of disbursement in 2013 financial year (that finished on 30.06.13) increased twofold against 2011 (15.1%) and reached a record showing for the whole period of cooperation with the Bank – 30.2%,” Anatoliy Maksiuta said.
Moreover, there was stressed that the positive dynamics is preserved in the I half of 2014 financial year (July – December 2013). As of January 2014 the disbursement coefficient has equaled 21.4% which enabled Ukraine to take the second place among 22 countries of Europe and Central Asia region.
Just with the view to such positive results of realization of the projects the sides agreed to increase the project portfolio by preparing five new infrastructure and socially focused projects at the total sum of over USD 1.7 bln for modernization of water and heating supply systems of Ukraine’s cities, further upgrade of substations of Ukrenerho, reforming of the healthcare system and social protection of the population.
Aiming to confirm the reached understandings the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Anatoliy Maksiuta and Director of the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Qimiao Fan signed the Protocol of considering the project portfolio.
