OREANDA-NEWS. In 2013, Vyksa Steel Works (JSC VSW, Nizhny Novgorod region, a part of United Metallurgical Company, CJSC OMK) produced 1.5 mln tons of pipes of various types, including 797,000 tons of LDPs, 661,000 railcar wheels, and 542,000 tons of plate.

In 2013, the company's volume of production of pipes increased by 9% compared to 2012. The growth was achieved due to increased production of LDPs for the CIS market, and pipes for oil and gas pipelines for the Russian market. The pipes were delivered to OMK strategic partners: Gazprom, Transneft, NOVATEK, LUKOIL, Rosneft, Surgutneft, etc., and for large CIS international pipeline projects like “Central Asia-China-3: Enhancing the Capacity of the Kazakhstan-China Main Pipeline.” In 2013, the volume of production of railcar wheels dropped by 22% (compared to record-breaking 2012) to 661,000 wheels. This was caused by a decrease in demand for wheels for railcar building, and by a large number of new railcars in the network that do not require repair.
