Montenegro's Uniprom Becomes Preferable Bidder for KAP Property
OREANDA-NEWS. Montenegrin company Uniprom, which was set up by local businessman Veselin Pejovich, made the most attractive bid among four candidates in a tender to acquire a property of bankrupted aluminum smelter Kombinat Aluminijuma Podgorica (KAP), the local court said in a statement late on January 10.
The plant's official receiver Veselin Perisic said that Uniprom deals with sales and purchase of old aluminum. “The company's representatives presented a business plan and demonstrated their readiness to operate under the government's control,” local media reported citing Perisic.
He also said that Uniprom is ready to pay 28.5 million euros for the KAP's property, which was earlier estimated at 52.469 million euros. Uniprom is also ready to hire at least 300 employees and invest 76 million euros in the plant's development in order to reach an output of 120,000 tonnes of liquid aluminum and 30,000 tonnes of secondary metals by 2018.
Another Montenegrin bidder Politropus Alternative, controlled by Ukrainian businessman Roman Denkovic, offered to acquire a part of KAP property for 450,000 euros. London-based company Get Sales, which is reportedly controlled by Germany's HGL, is ready to pay 5,100 euros for the property of KAP and invest 700 million euros in the development, while Belgrade-based company Alemani Trade offered 178,000 euros for a part of KAP's property.
KAP was declared bankrupt on October 9, 2013. It owes 148.15 million euros to Montenegro's finance ministry, 50.85 million euros to CEAC, a subsidiary of Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska's En+ Group, 44.93 million euros to local electric power supplier Elektroprivreda, 43.47 million euros to En+ Group, and 23.86 million euros to Russian VTB Bank.
