OREANDA-NEWS. ''SOCAR - Energy of Azerbaijan'' reception was held in Davos on January 22. Hosting about thousand guests, the event started with screening of video “Azerbaijan - the country of the future”.
Speaking at the reception, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said as a strategic partner of Davos Forum, SOCAR had already become a global company. Briefing on the ongoing rapid development processes in Azerbaijan, Mr. Abdullayev said Azerbaijan, possessing a system of diversified oil and gas pipelines, supplies oil and gas to more than 30 countries and plays an important role in European energy security. Signing the final investment decision on Shah Deniz 2 project in Baku at the end of last year serves as a proof once again.

Gьnther Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Energy, spoke about the history of Azerbaijan’s oil industry and emphasized Azerbaijan’s important role in delivering Caspian hydrocarbon resources to the world market. Gьnther Oettinger pointed out the importance of the 1st European Games to be held in Azerbaijan in 2015. The event was attended by a number of officials, representatives of the world leading mass media, including businessmen.

It is the third time that ''SOCAR - Energy of Azerbaijan'' reception is organized as a part of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which aims at promoting Azerbaijan in the world and presenting SOCAR to the business world.
