Moldovan Passengers Vehicles Must Receive Yellow License Plates
OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2014. The relevant resolution was taken by the government. This is to be done at a proposal by the Premier Iurie Leanca made in early October, who has noted that measures taken by the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry to combat illicit transportation have raised complaints of legal passenger carriers.
They are concerned with too often checkups. That is why and to improve quality of transportation services, the Premier has required that Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure should develop a mechanism to detach the legal transportation from the illicit one. As the Minister of IT and Communications Pavel Filip noted, according to the decision adopted by the government, all carriers involved in legal passenger transportations (buses, microbuses, taxis) will get yellow numbers as it is practiced in European countries. Besides, it would be easier for policemen to differentiate illicit carriers.
Whenever a policeman will see a bus with passengers but without yellow registration plates, he will realize the transportation is illicit. The legal carriers have 6 months to receive new yellow license plates.
The Cabinet decision will come into force from March 1, 2014. The relevant number plate can be obtained only if the carrier has an official permission for passenger services. In case of revocation of license, the transporter will be deprived of the yellow license plates.
