OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2014. Incheon International Airport won the World’s Best Duty-free Shop in the 2013 Business Traveler Awards, held in Los Angeles. This is its winning the award fourth year in a row since 2010.

Business Traveler annually announces the top rankings of global airports, airlines, hotels and cities based on survey questionnaires completed by readers which are sub-categorized into 11 regions including the U.S., Asia-Pacific, China and the U.K. The magazine issues more than 500,000 volumes each year.

In particular, winning the title in the magazine’s U.S. edition, which was the host of this year’s awards ceremony, is all the more meaningful as it accounts for some 40% of the magazine’s world circulation. Nearly 40,000 readers of the U.S. edition participated in the survey.

The airport was highly recognized with its optimized shopping area considering passenger flow and convenience. Also, the airport reflected the emerging trend, Korean wave(Hallyu), attracting more people with differentiated goods and services, giving them a chance to experience Korean culture within the shopping area.

“Incheon airport will show a new paradigm in the duty-free shops by innovating itself, going together with opening of the second passenger terminal in 2017” said an airport related person.
