Commencing from January 2014, visitors of the Rezekne clinic, as well as patients and guests of the hospital are provided free access to the Internet which enables easy communication and multiple options for spending free time. 41 WiFi hotspots have been set up throughout the hospital buildings covering all hospital wards, which has been implemented in association with Lattelecom. To access WiFi service, „Lattelecom-free” network must be used.

The decision to equip the hospital with extensive and reliable free WiFi connection has been made, having regard to the general practice - the number of WiFi users keeps growing, as is the service availability throughout Latvia. WiFi Internet will greatly advance access to information by persons who are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

„It's thanks to free WiFi that the patients of the Rezekne hospital have no restrictions to carry out their business, as there is an opportunity to work, to study and to access the latest information remotely,” Irena Rimsa, Member of Board of Rezekne Hospital, commented WiFi Internet service. „High speed and quality exchange of information also makes the work of the hospital personnel easy to carry out, and provides the visitors of the hospital the opportunity to obtain the relevant information.”

Today it would be impossible without access to the Internet. Free WiFi is available at no charge to user, moreover, it also imposes no data limitations. It also provides an opportunity to watch Internet TV using a computer, tablet or smart phone so as to kill the time whilst staying in the hospital,” Edgars Strods, Director of Internet and Voice Business Division, Lattelecom pointed out the benefits of WiFi Internet. „Through furnishing hospitals with free WiFi zones we continue to develop the vision of free communication available from any location, and at any time.”

Free WiFi network „Lattelecom-free” has also been made accessible in the hospitals of other cities and towns - Aizkraukle hospital, Balvi hospital, Bauska hospital, Cesis clinic, Gulbene hospital, Jurmala hospital, Kraslava hospital, Madona hospital, Mazsalaca hospital, Ogre District hospital, Preili hospital, Riga Austrumu Clinical University Hospital, Riga Maternity hospital, as well as in the Smiltene Red Cross hospital.

Today, the territory of the Rezekne hospital, which is situated at 18. Novembra iela 41, is the largest free WiFi area in the city. With the opening of the free WiFi area in the hospital, the free WiFi network „Lattelecom-free” is now made available to the inhabitants of Rezekne city from around 60 locations. In December, the number of unique free WiFi users amounted to 1489 in Rezekne.

In total, Lattelecom has installed more than 3479 free WiFi hotspots, which includes more than 2825 public Lattelecom-free WiFi hotspots and the hotspots which have been furnished in association with such companies as Statoil, SEB, DNB, Nordea, Atletika, etc.
