OREANDA-NEWS. This year Riga will shine on the world stage as the European Capital of Culture. It will not be until 2027 that another city in Latvia will be so honoured. Hence, we have been provided a unique opportunity to attract international attention to Riga, and make it recognisable at European level. This is an opportunity to demonstrate our cultural values and creative energies, as well as technology benefits, which is why Lattelecom will act as a partner of Riga 2014 throughout the year.

This year will also be a warm-up for an even greater global recognition and responsibility, which Latvia is about to face in 2015 when it will be unveiled as the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. I do believe that Riga will manage to demonstrate our greatest examples of cultural values and creative thinking, taking advantage also of existing technologies. This target will be possible to achieve through combining daring ideas with latest technologies so as to create an unforgettable cultural experience.

In 2013 Lattelecom supported XXV Latvian Song and XV Dance Festival. This year we have the honour to witness the birth of multi-cultural diversity, which is about to surprise both the guests of the city and its inhabitants.

Technologies is the means by which to bring the cultural values and events in the spotlight, which is why Lattelecom will provide the technology support, the most visible of which is the free of charge Wi-Fi access, aiming to enable the Riga 2014 events and provide the visitors of the events the opportunity to share their feelings and experience using the social networks. In addition, Lattelecom has also accommodated the Riga 2014 Creative Information Space "Esplanade 2014" with Internet access and PCs to enable each visitor to easily do their business, and to enjoy free time.
