Transaero Undertakes Assistance Training in Sochi
OREANDA-NEWS. On January 20, 2014 Transaero Airlines in partnership with Perspektiva, the Russian society of disabled people, held a training course for its employees on customer services for disabled passengers at Sochi International Airport.
Transaero Airlines with the assistance of Perspektiva experts continues to hold regular training courses for employees in operational departments that are responsible for offering services to people with disabilities. On this occasion, Transaero employees in the Southern Federal District and representatives of Sochi International airport took part in the course.
The participants of the course held an in-depth discussion on communication aspects, ethical behavior and practical cases regarding services provided to disabled passengers at every stage of air travel. Part of the training session includes role play, titled “Barrier”, where participants are required to make their way from the entrance of the airport to the passenger terminal and then to the boarding gate, in order to gain first-hand experience on possible obstacles in the way of a disabled traveller and what kind of assistance the airline's or airport's employees can provide in order to overcome them.
In November 2013 a similar course was arranged for the personnel of the airline's customer departments in Moscow. The course on disability awareness and assistance is an obligatory part of Transaero's professional training programme.
Training courses put in place by the Transaero Aviation Training Centre meet the highest international training standards. Unique education and control software, as well as a number of special guides support Transaero staff in learning how to work with disabled passengers.
In 2008 Transaero launched a comprehensive training programme aimed at creating a barrier-free air travel environment and enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities. The programme involves the adaptation of the company's service standards in order to meet the requirements of disabled passengers, as well as supporting sport and cultural events including wheelchair dancing, special competitions, sport marathons and exhibitions. Transaero is the only carrier in the Business Advisory Board on Disability, an initiative created by Perspektiva and several Russian and international organizations.
Transaero Airlines has recently been awarded the highest ranking of social corporate responsibility (AAAs).
