Lemtrans Reviews 2013 Performance
OREANDA-NEWS. According to preliminary performance results in 2013, Lemtrans maintained strong positions in the Ukrainian rail freight market and showed good operating results.
The company accounted for about 17% share in the segment of open railway cars shipping across Ukraine at the year end. Lower indicators in H1 2013 came from the overall drop in the industrial sector and were compensated for by a significant growth in H2.
At the end of the year, the total shipments made 48,542m tonnes of freight, with coal accounting for a considerable growth. The total shipments of coal increased by 13% to 33,795m tonnes. Iron ore raw materials, the second most important freight for the company, made 7,656m tonnes. In addition, in 2013 the company transported 2,851m tonnes of flux, 2,353m tonnes of ferrous metals, and 1,378m tonnes of coke.
In 2013, Lemtrans bought 645 new open railway cars, overhauled 637 cars, and serviced 3,981 cars.
Today Lemtrans operates a fleet of more than 16,000 open railway cars, with over 13,000 cars of its own.
Lemtrans is Ukraine's biggest private freight forwarding company that offers the full gamut of rail freight transport services. The areas of main focus include freight forwarding services in inland and outland transportation market and rolling stock repair services.
Today Lemtrans operates more than 16,000 vehicles. In 2013, the volume of transported freight exceeded 48.5m tonnes.
