Ukraine, Canada Agreed to Cooperate in Grain, Meat, Dairy Industries
OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2014. Ukraine is interested to continue and establish new joint agricultural projects with Canada. Thus, beef and dairy cattle breeding is interesting direction for both countries, as Canada has significant experience in livestock.
In particular, Ukraine wants to invite Canadian experts to learn their experience. Another joint project will affect the grain industry. It will provide the construction of warehouses for grain, removing it to the market and the organization of appropriate joint cooperatives. This was discussed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Olexandr Sen and Market Development Director of the Ministry of Agriculture of Canada Fred Gorell.
"Ukraine has experience in the implementation of joint projects in agriculture with Canada. And today, we are interested in establishing a new project to construct warehouses for grain output market and the organization of relevant specialized cooperatives. The project involves the development of small and medium enterprises-grain producers in regions of Ukraine by creating cooperatives. They would be able to provide services for the storage, processing and marketing to their members," Olexandr Sen said.
The second direction, which the sides will develop, is meat and dairy. In particular, the Ukrainian side has invited experts from Canadian to visit Ukraine and to share their own experiences. Recall, the turnover of agricultural products between Canada and Ukraine amounted to almost 87 million in the 11 months 2013.
