OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow Domodedovo Airport puts into operation equipment for passengers with reduced mobility expanding opportunities for this category of travelers.

The air hub commissioned the Assistance racks equipped with technical facilities for video- and audio-signaling: using them passengers with reduced mobility can call a dispatcher of the special airport service. The racks are conveniently located both in the territory of the landside and inside the terminal: by the entrances, at the parking lots, on the International Airlines Arrivals Area as well as in international and domestic baggage claim areas.

To make the stay of passengers with reduced mobility comfortable at the airport, public sanitary facilities in the international and domestic airlines galleries of the terminal are equipped with special wall panels with call buttons on them with the help of which passengers can contact a dedicated airport employee to get on-the-spot assistance in case of an emergency.

In 2013, the number of physically-challenged passengers traveling through Moscow Domodedovo Airport increased by 11.7% compared with 2012: the largest air hub of the country rendered services to more than 40,000 people with reduced mobility.

Increasing the number of technical facilities is only a part of the Domodedovo program aimed at creating comfortable conditions for this category of passengers. The air hub has a fleet of specialized vehicles for transferring passengers with reduced mobility: state-of-the-art ambulifts make it possible to take passengers aboard any type of aircraft. Domodedovo Airport is the first Russian airport to introduce the induction system, which allows the acoustically challenged guests of the airport to familiarize themselves with the announcement in all areas of the airport complex.

The staff of the Airport Assistance Service for Passengers with Reduced Mobility help them, in the most rapid and convenient way, to pass all the necessary departure and arrival formalities and escort them when boarding or leaving the aircraft. At the Mu-Mu cafй there are special tables reserved for passengers with reduced mobility where they can relax in a comfortable environment.
