OREANDA-NEWS. January 21, 2014. The Research on BIM (Building Information Modeling) Technology Basing upon Three-dimension Design and the Promotion & Application in Construction Engineering, which was undertaken by Shanghai Baoye Construction Group (SBC-MCC Group), passed through acceptance assessment.

As one of the central-level research and development projects on new construction technologies designated by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), this R&D Project is rated to be of international advanced level in terms of its overall technology.

Taking advantage of this project, SBC-MCC Group carried out overall study and application of BIM Technology in the construction and metallurgical engineering.

The project team formulated the enterprise standard, namely BIM Rules Basing upon Autodesk revit. On this ground, SBC-MCC Group worked out an integrated resolution for design, construction, operation and management on engineering projects on the basis of Three-dimension Design BIM Technology. The Group thus resolved the relevant problems in the fields of: (i) compatibility of on-site project progressing information and BIM platform; (ii) prefabrication in workshop; and (iii) secondary development of BIM Technology.

In addition, the project team developed six BIM applicable technologies, including: (i) BIM-based Detailed Design Technology for Construction Works; (ii) Visual Pre-construction & Collaborative Management Technology; (iii) Cable Information Management and Cable Label Printing System; (iv) Navisworks-based Fast Positioning Technology; (v) BIM-based Workshop

Prefabrication Technology for Structural Element; and (vi) BIM-based Management System for Project Completion Documents. All these technologies have been successfully put into application in quite a few key projects, for instance, Shizimen CBD Convention Center Project in Zhuhai, Sports Center Project in Erdos, Fuxin Stainless Steel Plant, Disney’s Epcot Center and Islands of Adventure in Shanghai.

Under this project, three items of software copyrights and one enterprise standard have been obtained. Meanwhile, several prized have been awarded, for example, the First Prize for Management Modernization Innovation Results among Construction Enterprise of China, the Second Prize of National BIM Application Contest on Engineering Construction, and the First Prize of “Shenxin Cup” BIM Mechanical/Electrical Application Innovation Contest in Shanghai.
