Power Failure at Nagoya Works
OREANDA-NEWS. A power failure occurred in Nagoya Works of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (“NSSMC”) due to a failure in the substation facility of its power plant. In order to deal with the power failure, coke oven gas was burnt off and a substantial amount of smoke was released.
No injuries have been reported from this incident. Coke oven gas which produced smoke has been burnt off and released to the air safely. NSSMC are now investigating possible effects to the manufacturing facilities of Nagoya Works. The material damage to those facilities is limited at this point. NSSMC intend to take measures to ensure that the product supply to our customers would not be affected.
NSSMC will investigate the cause of this incident and take measures in an attempt to prevent the recurrence of this situation.
