Moldovan, Dutch Premiers Broach Reforms, EU Integration
OREANDA-NEWS. January 20, 2014. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Leanca thanked for the Dutch support provided to Moldova in promoting the reforms and in Moldova’s European integration process.
“The EU openness without precedent towards Moldova would not have been possible if there was no support of important actors, including the Netherlands, one of the EU founders. We appreciate the decision taken by the Dutch government in December 2013 as regards the support of the European Commission’s proposal to include Moldovans in the list of foreigners, who do not require visa to enter the EU”, Leanca noted. He assured Rutte that Moldova would keep its European integration.
The officials approached the prospects of trade liberalization with the EU, as well as the needed measures to this end. “We are to sign soon the Association Agreement and the free trade agreement with the EU. It implies increasing the quality of the Moldovan products in line with the European standards. The Netherlands’ experience on the matter is extremely welcome for our country. The increase of the Dutch investments in Moldova’s economy is another goal”, Leanca noted.
Another issue was related to the activity of Moldovan-Dutch business people council, recently set up. The Moldovan Consulate in Amsterdam will be inaugurated.
At the end, Leanca invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to Moldova.
The Netherlands ranks on the top of foreign investors in Moldova, with the following investment sectors: telecommunications, agro-industrial and property sectors, finance and constructions. As many as 96 Moldovan-Dutch companies are recorded in Moldova.
