OREANDA-NEWS. January 17, 2014. President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych thinks that the Government must coordinate its work with the Parliament in order to adopt the State Budget 2014 as soon as possible. It was stated by him in the course of the meeting with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

"I think you must work with the Parliament for the budget to be adopted tomorrow. You know the consequences unless it is adopted. It is the reduction of salaries, first of all, surcharges we have planned since January 2014," Viktor Yanukovych said. The President noted that it was inadmissible.

According to the Head of State, economic growth and the increase in the amount of investments, social payments, salaries and pensions are planned for this year. "It is very important for people's deputies to understand the responsibility to the voters," Viktor Yanukovych said emphasizing the importance of timely social payments, salaries and pensions in January.

He reminded that on the eve of the vote for the budget, government officials had always met with fractions and listened to their remarks and proposals in order to make amendments to the budget. The Head of State stressed the necessity of holding such meetings. "Certainly, we must hold dialogue with the opposition. It is time to get out of this deadlock," the President said. According to Viktor Yanukovych, negotiations between the Government and the opposition with participation of parliamentary majority can be a solution of the case.

In the course of the meeting with the Prime Minister, the Head of State noted that leaders of the oppositional fractions had offered Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak to establish a working group on that issue. The President emphasized the importance of the efficient work of the given group and warned against politicization and populism.

According to the President, the Parliament must get back to the solution of social issues.

"I have a principled position on the conclusions of 2013. We shouldn't conceal any our disadvantages. We need a fair and objective discussion of what we have failed to achieve, why this has happened and who is responsible for that. I mean ministers and heads from regions," the President added.
