OREANDA-NEWS. On January 14, the delegation comprised of the members of Foreign Relations Committee of the Mexican Senate visited the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Welcoming the guests, SOCAR vice-president for investments and marketing Elshad Nasirov mentioned the developing relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico, noted the role of Inter-Parliamentary relations in the cooperation development. Stressing Azerbaijan as an ancient land of oil and gas, Mr. Nasirov said the industrial method of oil production was first used in the country. According to him, Azerbaijan was a pioneer country to transport oil via tankers, railway, and pipelines, as well as to refine, explore and commission oil fields in onshore, offshore, deep-water parts of the Caspian Sea. He spoke about the recent global and regional oil and gas projects of the country, achievements gained within those projects emphasizing the important role of Azerbaijan in terms of European energy security. Expressing gratitude for warm reception, Gabriela Cuevas Barrуn, chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Mexican Senate, appreciated the achievements in economic and social spheres, and development experience of Azerbaijan. In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on mutually interesting issues, discussed perspectives of future cooperation in energy sector.
