Premier: Belarus' Potash Export Proceeds at USD 2.15bn in 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' potash export proceeds in 2013 are expected to reach USD 2.15 billion, Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said on December 28 while on a working trip to Grodno Region.
As far as economic development is concerned, 2013 has been a rough year for Belarus, and it is ending on a sad note, the premier said. One of the reasons is the situation on the potash market, Myasnikovich said. At the same time, he admitted that proceeds from potash trade will be slightly better than originally expected after the breakup with Russia's Uralkali: USD 2.15 billion instead of USD 1.7 billion, respectively. The premier attributes this to Belarus' active marketing policy.
Belarus' potash export proceeds reached their all time high in 2012 at USD 2.7 billion.
