EurAsEC Delays Decision on USD 440m Tranche to Belarus till Q3 2014
OREANDA-NEWS. The council of the Anti-Crisis Fund of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) has postponed a decision on allocating the last, U.S. USD 440 million tranche to Belarus until July-September 2014 as the country has failed to reach the targets of the stabilizing program, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said.
“The stabilizing program was extended until July 1, 2014, and the deadline of the accessibility of the financial loan of the Anti-Crisis Fund - until December 31, 2014,” the bank, which manages the fund's assets, said.
The council recommended Belarus should elaborate and carry out the measures required to fulfill the terms of the tranche.
According to a preliminary schedule, Belarus was supposed to receive the last tranche by the end of 2013.
The EDB signed an agreement with Belarus on the allocation of a USD 3 billion loan in June 2011. The funds are transferred in six tranches. The first part of USD 800 million was given to Belarus in June 2011 with another four parts worth USD 440 million each - in December 2011, June 2012, January and April 2013.
