Liu Xia from Shanghai Electric Named China Economic Figure of 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2014. Professor Liu Xia, Senior Engineer of Professor level from Shanghai Turbine Works Co., Ltd., earned “China Economic Figure of the Year 2013 - Special Award” at the 14th China Economic Figure of the Year Award ceremony, which is dubbed as “The Oscars of China Economic Circle”, held at Beijing.
Joining Liu on the stage receiving the awards were Su Jian, Senior Technician in CNC pipe from CNR Tangshan Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. and Liu Haiwang, Senior Technician from Beijing No.1 Machine Tool Plant, representing tens of millions of technicians that were awarded. This is the first team of technicians who took the stage of China Economic Figure of the Year Award ceremony, demonstrating the broad consensus of China’s economic and social development that the economic transformation of China cannot stand alone from leading industry like equipment manufacturing, nor from the wisdom and hard work of technicians.
Organized by China Central Television (“CCTV”), the CCTV Economic Figure of the Year has come to, by 2013, its 14th anniversary since its inception in 2000. Hundreds of entrepreneurs and scholars had been awarded since the event’s inception, which has now become a pillar measure of China’s economic development.
The theme of this year’s evaluation is: wisdom and hard-work in transformation and upgrade, featuring challenges, implementation and thoughts that drive China into a large-scale economy, in the next stage of its economic development. Innovation, responsibility, influence and impetus are the four measures in the assessment.
Holding trophy in her arms, Liu Xia said with pride that, “As an award winner representing the technician community in China, I’m proud of Shanghai Turbine Works Co., Ltd., of what I did and of being part of tens of millions of technicians. Shanghai Electric will join hands with other innovators in creating a better future.”
