OREANDA-NEWS. Beginning Tuesday, January 7, Little Rock Road from Wilkinson Boulevard to Rental Car Road will become one way inbound traffic for vehicles headed to the terminal. The permanent change in traffic is tied to the March opening of inbound lanes on CLT’s new entrance road.

Outbound traffic leaving the Airport will no longer be permitted on this section of roadway; instead, drivers exiting Charlotte Douglas from Rental Car Road will have to take Old Dowd Road to Marshal Drive for access to Wilkinson Boulevard and major highways. For passengers using Long Term 1 and Long Term 2, entry into the parking lots will only be accessible on Wilkinson Boulevard.

Variable message signs will be strategically placed along roadways alerting drivers of the change. Parking attendants will also be on hand to assist passengers.

Construction of the new Airport Entrance Road began in August 2012. The entire project is scheduled for completion this fall. When finished, the road will improve connections from Wilkinson Boulevard and Josh Birmingham Parkway to the terminal.
