OREANDA-NEWS. January 06, 2014. Ukrainian Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant has manufactured over one million tons of pipes for additional capacities of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline which can transport Turkmen gas to China though Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
"The Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant which is a part of the Metinvest Group, supplies large diameter pipes for all participants in the trans-national project on the construction of the main Central Asia-China gas pipeline. Currently over one million tons of pipes have been dispatched to the pipeline's Uzbekistan-China and Kazakhstan-China sections and the Beyneu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline," according to the Ukrainian company's message.
The pipes produced at the Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant will also be used in construction of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline's additional branch C. This branch runs through Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan and is designed to increase transit of Central Asian gas to China. The branch's total length is 1840 kilometres. The C branch's projected capacity will stand at 25 billion cubic meters a year. It is planned to be commissioned in 2014.
For the construction of the C branch, the Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant supplied 1219 mm diameter single-weld pipes made from X80 increased strength category steel. The pipes have external anticorrosion and internal epoxide coatings.
