Grodno Azot Reports 24% Increase in Nitrogen Fertilizer Exports
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' chemical company OAO Grodno Azot exported USD 172.85 million worth of nitrogen fertilizers in January-October 2013, up 24% year on year, a source in the profile ministry told.
Grodno Azot exported 252,600 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-October 2013, up 49.7% on the year.
The average export price stood at USD 684.35 per tonne in Jan-Oct 2013 to compare with USD 826 per tonne in Jan-Oct 2012.
Grodno Azot exported 235,300 tonnes (worth USD 195.8 million) of nitrogen fertilizers (in terms of 100% nitrogen) to overseas markets in Jan-Dec 2012, down 27.2% on the year. In 2011 Grodno Azot exported 323,000 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers worth USD 303.8 million. The average export price stood at USD 832 per tonne in 2012 and USD 939.7 in 2011.
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at: liquid ammonia - 976,800 tonnes, carbamide - 945,000, nitrogen solution - 720,000 tonnes, ammonium sulfate - 319,000 tonnes, methanol - 80,000 tonnes, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam, biofuel - 40,000 tonnes, premium quality carbonic acid - 24,000 tonnes.
Grodno Azot is the main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
