Moldovan PM Expects Clarity Over RF’s Ban on Wine in January
OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2013. After the winter holidays, in the middle of January, there may be clarity as regards the ban imposed by Russia on the imports of Moldovan wine, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in the program "Fourth Power" on N4 channel, IPN reports.
Iurie Leanca said the ban cannot be named embargo as there is no clarity in this respect. "We would like to know exactly what it is – a political decision based on reasons or a decision concerning certain technical components of the wine. We want clarity," he stated.
The Premier specified that Moldova does not want to lose the Russian market. The authorities want to have active, good and friendly relations with Russia. These relations are not only commercial, but also interpersonal.
"I hope we will be able to convince the Russian side that we must act based on reason. The European integration is attractive namely because it makes us more stable and predictable. What we want is to know the rules of the game so as to be able to respect them," said Iurie Leanca.
On September 10, Russia imposed a ban on the imports of Moldovan wine. As a result, during the next three months the Moldovan wine producers sustained losses of tens of millions of dollars.
