Dnistrovska Pumped Storage Power Plant Launches Storage Pump №2
OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2013. The President has taken part in the ceremony of launching the "Storage Pump №2" of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant. The ceremony has been broadcasted live on Pershyi Natsionalnyi in the course of the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Power Engineer that will be celebrated.
Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytskyi reported to the Head of State that his instruction on the construction of the "Storage Pump №2" of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant had been fulfilled.
In his turn, CEO of PJSC "Ukrhidroenergo" Ihor Syrota expressed gratitude to the President for his support in the funding of the project. "We have proved that Ukrainians are capable of building the most ambitious projects in our state," he said.
The President has given permission to start the program of launch operations of the "Storage Pump №2" of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant and congratulated the power engineers on putting it into operation.
"I congratulate you on this victory – the victory of Ukrainian state and people," the Head of State said.
According to the President, Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant will become not only the biggest pumped storage plant in Europe, but also the 6th biggest hydropower facility in the world.
Viktor Yanukovych emphasized that the implementation of the given project would provide necessary mobile regulating capacities to the energy system of the state and it would strengthen the energy security of Ukraine.
Moreover, according to the President, the environmental conditions will be substantially improved due to the use of renewable energy. Also, the consumption of natural gas will be reduced and new jobs will be created.
He also noted that the construction of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant was one of the most capital-intensive infrastructural facilities of Ukraine in terms of the construction works and funding.
"The implementation of the given project demonstrates the level of technologies our state uses nowadays," Viktor Yanukovych said.
