OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 December 2013 NPO Saturn was visited by the delegates from Russia's Major Naval Command.

In the course of the visit the parties reviewed the line of engines and power units derived from them produced or still in design at NPO Saturn including the backlog of developments for electric propulsion of ships and vessels available in the company. Their end-to-end production cycle using special high-temperature, corrosion-resistant materials was demonstrated. The company's potential with regard to the design, manufacturing and delivery of marine applications to meet the needs of the Navy was also reviewed.

The representatives of the Navy visited the company's test base and witnessed the construction work ongoing on a new assembly-testing complex.

In the process of exchanging viewpoints on the topical issues, the Navy representatives expressed an opinion that NPO Saturn should be involved in supplying marine gas turbine engines and power units derived from them for the new naval ships and also invited the company to participate in the retrofit activities on the in-service ships.

NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the All-Russian public organization The Union of mechanical engineers of Russia whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
