OREANDA-NEWS. In the course of their visit to NPO Saturn, the delegates from the innovation territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” located in the Yaroslavl region, the representatives of the Saxon economy with the support of the regional and municipal authorities came up with a decision to hold an international technological forum on the cluster's premises on 17-19 March 2014.

The preparation and administration of the technological forum were among the key points referenced in the mutually profitable collaboration agreement regarding the innovation territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” co-signed by NPO Saturn as the cluster's coordinator and the economic union of Saxony in the field of aerospace (ASIS) and mechanical engineering (VEMAS) on 28 August 2013 at the International aerospace salon in Zhukovsky.

When visiting the innovation territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” the representatives of the Saxon economy in Russia Dr. M. Liebl and Dr. F. Hagen visited the Kopaevo industrial park, the cluster companies and took part in a meeting held at Saturn focused on the organization of the international technological forum.

The meeting was also attended by a deputy governor of the Yaroslavl region D.M. Sekretarev, head of economic development and investment department of the Rybinsk administration Y.S. Dmitrieva and D.S. Ivanov, NPO Saturn innovative development director.

As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to conduct an international technological forum on the cluster's premises on 17-19 March 2014 with the participation of Russian, German and French companies, universities and research institutions. The following themes were chosen as the forum's keynote subjects:

Creation and utilization of composite materials based on a polymer, intermetallic or ceramic matrix.

Innovative production processes ensuring high-speed machining of complex-profile parts, welding, accuracy enhancement and surface quality improvement, etc.

Engineering and reengineering in a modern high-tech production set-up.

Design and utilization of different types of nanostructured and special coatings.

Vocational training.

Collaboration.

According to Dmitriy Ivanov, NPO Saturn director for innovative development, “the main goal of the technological forum is searching, conjointly with the leading international companies and representatives of the Russian and German scientific community, for specific technological solutions allowing to bring down production costs of the products produced by the cluster companies, new common growth points and new value streams. It is very important that we have been able to find in the representatives of the Saxon economy reliable international partners sharing our values and our development strategy aimed at an industry-wide international work-sharing.”

Doctor Manfred Liebl noted that “since a long time the representatives of the Saxon economy have considered Russia not only as a prospective sales market for its products and services but also as a domain for setting up new high-tech productions. To us the innovation territorial cluster “Gas turbine machinery and power engineering” located in the Yaroslavl region is one of such benign territories for running joint projects. As a proof of that over 25 leading German companies and research institutions have already expressed their desire to take part in the upcoming forum. Moreover, the support offered by the regional and municipal authorities guarantees that the event will be held in compliance with the rigorous international standards.”
