Set of Agreements on Hanhikivi-1 Project Is Signed
OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 December 2013 in Helsinki, representatives of ROSATOM companies signed with the Finnish partners a set of documents on the three main areas of cooperation in the project of construction of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant of Russian design in Finland.
Voimaosakeyhtio SF and JSC Rusatom Overseas signed an agreement establishing areas of responsibilities and shares in the project. The document envisages that JSC Rusatom Overseas becomes a shareholder in Fennovoima acquiring a 34% share.
Another document signed by the senior management of Fennovoima and JSC Rusatom Overseas is a contract of the NPP construction that establishes conditions of the nuclear power plant construction and obligations of the parties.
Also, Fennovoima and JSC TVEL signed a nuclear fuel supply contract for the future NPP.
The signing of the three documents was implemented in strict compliance with the project time schedule.
The signing of the set of agreements not only shows the acknowledgement of the level of Russian nuclear technologies, but also serves as expression of trust to the Russian nuclear companies which “are able to realize largest-scale projects with limited resources and strict time frame”, as was underscored by Kirill Komarov, Deputy Director General of ROSATOM who was present at the signing.
Thus, the companies of ROSATOM will be constructing 20 NPP units abroad, and the total amount of contracts for NPP construction, supply of fuel and enriched uranium product and other services will exceed USD 74 bln.
