OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2013. Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) has announced that a new secondary school for 198 pupils built by the company as part of the state programme “100 schools, 100 hospitals” in Saikuduk village in Akzhaik district district of the Western Kazakhstan oblast was successfully put into operation.

A total amount of KPO investments in this social project made up USD2.9 million.  The WKO construction company “Aksai Zhelezo-Beton LLP” was the general contractor of the project.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the administration of the West-Kazakhstan oblast and Akzhaik district, representatives of the district department of education as well as top management of KPO and contractors.

The WKO Akim Nurlan Nogayev noted that the construction of schools and hospitals is a primary focus of government policy that is aimed at improvement of social well-being of Kazakhstan’s people.  “The previous school in the village was in emergency condition. This new school is equipped with everything necessary for the full-fledged education”, added Nurlan Nogayev.

The School Principal Baurzhan Umirzakov said: “This school is named after Kazakh poet Zhuban Moldagaliyev and it will become home for 198 pupils and 28 teachers.  On behalf of the school administration, I would like to congratulate you with the opening of a new school  and wish the children success in their study and great accomplishments to the teachers in their noble cause”, he added.

The two-storey school has teaching classes, gym, conference hall, workshop, canteen and a library. 

Marco Castelli, KPO HR Controller, noted: “We are glad the children will get a high quality education at such a modern school, construction of which was agreed with the Akimat of the  WKO as part of the state program “100 Schools, 100 Hospitals.”

The KPO social programme is focused on construction of healthcare, education, culture and sports facilities.  The priority of projects is defined by the Western Kazakhstan administration.  All KPO social projects are carried out by Kazakh contractors only.
