BT to Provide Data Centre Services to Banco Agrario de Colombia
OREANDA-NEWS. BT announced today that it will provide Banco Agrario de Colombia, one of the three most important banks in Colombia, with collocation services in its data centre in Bogota. BT’s bid was selected in a public call for tenders.
These key services, which are part of BT Compute’s traditional and hybrid cloud based services portfolio, will provide Banco Agrario with technological solutions that will allow the bank to maximise its performance and security while also improving its workflow in the next five years.
In the words of Luis Enrique Collante, vicepresident of Information and Communication Technology at Banco Agrario de Colombia, "the services that BT offers will play a vital role in helping us to achieve one of Banco Agrario's primary goals, which is to provide an integrated, flexible, functional and secure technological platform capable of keeping pace with the institution's needs and growth. This will increase the efficiency and quality of the services that Banco Agrario provides via its 741 branches across the country, through which it finances rural, agricultural, livestock, forestry and agroindustrial activities in Colombia."
The BT data centre in Bogota's Free Zone conforms to the highest efficiency, availability and security standards, making it a highly competitive facility in Latin America. It has been certified to the ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 20000 (IT Service Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security Management) standards, and has been designed following the EIA/TIA-942 210 standard, which means a system availability of up to 99.995%.
According to Jorge Marchena, managing director of BT in Colombia, Central America and the Andes, "future entrepreneurial success will depend entirely on agility, flexibility and response capacity. We are very proud that a leading institution like Banco Agrario de Colombia sees BT as a company that can help it gain that competitive edge and achieve success in today's ever-changing market conditions. This proves that key BT services are forging a stellar reputation in Latin America and around the world."
This agreement represents a major innovation for Banco Agrario and illustrates BT's commitment to Colombia, a key market for BT in Latin America.
