Export of Moldavian Wines Increases by 23% in 11 Months
OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2013. At the same time, the volume of losses of Moldovan winemakers due to the Russian ban on the import of Moldovan wines by the end of this year will reach about USD20 million.
This was announced by the Minister of agriculture and food industry Vasile Bumacov during the press conference: "Impact of restrictions on the export of Moldovan wine to the Russian market and measures taken by the Ministry to support the wine-makers". The Minister noted that revenues from exports to CIS countries over the first 9 months of 2013 totaled about USD 93 million.
Three major importers in CIS were: Russia - 48,7%, Belarus - 38,9% and Kazakhstan-12.4%. Revenue from the export of alcohol products to EU countries for the first 9 months of this year amounted to about USD 27 million.
Wine was mainly exported to Poland - 37,3%, Czech Republic - 23,7%, Romania - 13,4%, Germany - 5,5%, Lithuania - 4.5%, Latvia (3.2%) and Estonia - 3,2%. Vasile Bumacov also informed that the total volume of harvest in the current year amounted to 600 thousand tons; including 500 thousand tons of technical grapes varieties and 100 thousand tons-table grapes.
