OREANDA-NEWS. The President of FESCO Transportation Group, Ruslan Alikhanov, held several meetings with representatives of major Japanese companies and corporations in Tokyo at the beginning of December. The parties discussed the current issues of cooperation and the possibility of its expansion by increasing traffic and the volume of transshipment in Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP), owned by FESCO.

All the Japanese companies participated in the meetings are already the clients of FESCO. The Group handles container and general cargo delivery for them, in addition to grain, equipment, and vehicles using the intermodal service FESCO Japan Trans-Siberian Line (JTSL), Ro-Ro line; it also organizes transshipment in VMTP.

The volume of vehicles transshipment in VMTP increased by 9.7% for the first 9 months of 2013, compared to the same period of last year and amounted to 70,269 units.

FESCO Japan Trans-Siberian Line (JTSL) transported 11,079 TEU for the first 9 months of 2013, an increase of 33.5% year on year. Import transportation volume of the line for the same period amounted to 6,612 TEU, an increase of 36.7% year on year.

FESCO President Ruslan Alikhanov noted: "The development of cargo traffic between Japan and Russia is a very promising activity for FESCO. The Company provides point-to-point delivery using its own Japanese service, which is the only direct sea line linking the ports of Japan and Russian Federation. The capabilities of VMTP already allow the processing of more than a third of vehicles coming into Russia through the Far East. An increase of non-containerized cargoes traffic is planned for the account of grain delivery — the first batch for export to Japan will be sent out of VMTP by the end of 2013".
